Hong Kong judoka Wong Ka-lee on Saturday bowed out from the Olympics, losing 10-0 to Austrian Katharina Tanzer.
Wong was eliminated in the womens 48-kilogramme competition by Tanzer, who is 17 places higher than her in the world rankings.
She said she was disappointed with her performance.
I could have performed better, because I thought I had a chance after the draw. I hope I could do better next time.
“I would like to thank [my coach and my younger brother] for encouraging me all the time... I was very nervous before the match, but they tried to help me relax.”
Wong, 26, was competing in the Games for the first time and marked the return of a Hong Kong judoka in the Olympics after 12 years.
